We sat for the Ranger speech on the mountain and she brought up a interesting point. But, I bet she just made a mistake and gave the wrong number. She said ash flows have temperature of around 400 degrees…ummm, Jim said (on the way up) that ash flows reach 2000 degrees! Yep, that Ranger must have been having a rough day.
From here is back down the mountain and we lost no time. It seems like the more distance from the mountain the faster we went. I scraped peds on a few couners and I know Jim scraped his pipes. That will make the old butt checks pucker. We wind through the forest until we hit Hwy 12 then head West. We blew all the way across the state to the West coast and the Sun blinded us the last 30 miles. Once we got to our motel it was well worth it. This place is right on the ocean. Nice rooms, cheap, even a bowling alley.
